Seniors Thankful for Signs & T-Shirts

Senior Wes Kennington poses proudly wearing his new senior T-shirt. These were his thoughts on the surprise. “Well I wasn’t home for it sadly, but coming home to it, and especially knowing they came that far out of town just to do that, felt like such a nice gesture and I’m very thankful for it.”

SENIORS! You may have heard that the Indiana Department of Education has issued some flexibility guidelines for Indiana graduation requirements for the Class of 2020 in response to COVID-19. ISTEP: Because of school shut-downs, ISTEP is no longer a diploma requirement for the Class of 2020. If you have not passed one or both sections of ISTEP, it will not affect your graduation. You will not need a waiver.

CLASS OF 2020 COURSE and CREDIT REQUIREMENTS:
The state has determined that you will be able to earn whatever diploma option you were on track for this semester. Your diploma will be determined by a combination of the credits you already earned prior to March plus the credits you are currently pursuing.
The state also indicates that you must meet “any virtual or remote learning participation requirements established by the governing body of the local school corporation in response to the statewide school closure order…” For Twin Lakes, that means that you need to continue to participate in your classes in order to receive credit to meet graduation requirements.
There is no semester final. 3rd and 4th 9 weeks will each be weighted at 50% to figure the semester grade. If your semester average is less than a 60%, the state will allow us to give you credit so you can obtain your diploma. If you have any questions on your individual status, please contact your School Counselor.
